Questions about Excel to CSV
More answers in the TextVix FAQ.
What happens to formulas?
They aren’t calculated. Excel stores each formula’s last calculated value, and that is what you get. The tool tells you how many formula cells it found.
Why do some cells start with an apostrophe?
Text that starts with =, +, - or @ could run as a formula when the CSV is opened in a spreadsheet app, so a ’ is added in front to keep it as text.
Can I convert .xls files?
No. Save them as .xlsx first.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Files are opened and processed by your browser, on your device. TextVix never receives them, and they are gone when you close the tab.
