Text in, text out
These tools work with the words in a document. Extracting text keeps paragraphs and line breaks; it doesn’t keep fonts, images or page layout. Creating a Word file from text gives you a clean, editable document you can format further in Word, Pages or Google Docs.
Older formats
Word .docx, OpenDocument .odt, RTF and HTML can be read. Older binary .doc files can’t — open them in Word or Google Docs and save as .docx first.

Questions about document tools
Do my documents get uploaded?
No. Documents are opened by your browser and processed on your device.
Is HTML from my file ever displayed?
No. HTML is read as text only — it is never shown as a web page, and nothing in it can load or run.
