Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about using TextVix, your privacy, and the files you can work with.
General questions
What is TextVix?
TextVix is a free collection of tools for everyday digital jobs: cleaning and sorting text, creating and splitting PDFs, converting and compressing images, converting data files such as CSV, JSON and Excel, and creating or opening ZIP files. Each tool has its own page with one clear job.
Is TextVix free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no sign-up. TextVix is built by OrevX Labs and may be supported by clearly labelled ads in the future.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Every TextVix tool runs in your web browser: your text and files are processed on your own device and are never sent to TextVix. They are kept in the page’s memory only and are gone when you close or reload the tab.
Do I need an account?
No. Your favourite and recently used tools are remembered in your own browser, not in an account. You can clear them at any time.
Which file types can I use?
Text tools read TXT, CSV, JSON, Markdown, HTML, XML, YAML, Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), RTF and PDF. Image tools work with JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and SVG. Data tools read CSV, JSON, XML, YAML and Excel (.xlsx). Each tool lists exactly what it accepts and its size limits.
Which conversions aren’t available?
Audio and video conversion, HEIC and TIFF images, older .doc and .xls files, and layout-preserving PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPoint conversion are not available. TextVix only lists conversions it can do properly in your browser.
Can TextVix read scanned PDFs?
No. Scanned pages are pictures of text, and reading them needs OCR, which TextVix doesn’t do. When a PDF has no selectable text, the tool tells you instead of returning an empty file.
Can I use TextVix on my phone?
Yes. Every page works on phones and tablets: you can paste text, choose files, and download results. Very large files may be slower on phones because they are processed on the device.
Are there size limits?
Yes, to keep your browser responsive. For example, images can be up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels each, ZIP files up to 200 MB, and PDFs up to 60 MB. Each tool shows its limits next to the upload area and explains clearly if a file is too large.
Is TextVix safe to use with files from other people?
Files are only ever read as data — never run. Archives are checked for damage, unsafe paths and zip bombs; spreadsheet formulas are never calculated; XML with document type definitions is refused; SVGs are drawn in a mode where scripts can’t run. No tool can promise perfect safety, so treat unexpected files with care.
Does TextVix work offline?
Partly. Once a page and its tool have loaded, most tools keep working without a connection, because the processing happens on your device. Tools you haven’t opened yet need a connection to load.
